Frequently asked questions

Why is Ipé the benchmark for decks?

[A validar] Because it is one of the densest and most naturally durable tropical hardwoods: it withstands heavy traffic, moisture and insects without chemical treatment. It is the usual choice for decks, pool surrounds and demanding exteriors in a Caribbean climate, where other woods wear out sooner.

What grade does Ipé come in?

[A validar] MadeiraTech’s tropical hardwoods arrive in FAS grade, kiln-dried (KD), planed on four sides (S4S) and with eased edges (E4E). They come from an Amazon sawmill we work with directly, which lets us control selection and supply.

How is a Ipé deck installed?

[A validar] On a frame with supports every 40 cm, with stainless-steel screws or hidden clips, and 2 to 7 mm gaps between boards. Leave at least 10 cm of ventilation underneath. Professional installation is key to its durability, stability and performance in a tropical climate.

How often should Ipé be maintained?

[A validar] Outdoors, every 1 to 3 years; indoors, every 3 to 5 years, depending on sun and rain exposure. The MadeiraTech catalog recommends oils such as Special Wood Oil or CUTEK Extreme Oil. An advisor will tell you which product and how much for your surface.

How do I order Ipé?

[A validar] In four steps: we confirm availability, define the specifications (profile, dimensions, finish), send you the quote with the cutting list, and you confirm the order. Message us on WhatsApp with the use and approximate area, and an advisor guides you from the first step.
